At GROWLANE TRAINING AND MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE, spoken English is taught by the Indian way which is specifically designed to help students from Bengali/ Hindi medium backgrounds. Special focus on English fluency development by regular group discussion, public speaking, storytelling and debates. Audio-visual methods will be applied to develop non-verbal communication skills. Elementary grammar will be taught to avoid commonly made grammatical mistakes. Students will be hearing their own voices through headphones which will help them to rectify their pronunciation.

The Course
It is a two months training programme designed keeping in mind the requirement of the diverse group present in class and aimed at developing fluency and confidence. 1) I am a Bengali/ Hindi medium student. How can I learn English only in 2 months?
Learning Spoken English means developing vocabulary, overcome inhibition and speaking with confidence within a group or in front of a gathering. With equal amount of effort from both ends you will develop all these requisites which will help you to speak English confidently throughout. Also, proper practice as guided by us will help you to learn the language.

2) I can write correct English, but I don’t have the confidence to speak. Will this course give me the confidence to speak properly?
The teaching methodology of the course depends on interaction system where trainees are given maximum time to speak inside the classroom. This methodology requires the trainees to speak in front of the whole class and thus builds confidence in them. An added advantage on your part is that you will make less grammatical mistakes while speaking.

3) The class would comprise of a diverse group of trainees – school students, working professionals, etc.,. Would it be possible for me to develop confidence in such case?
In real life too you would be required to speak in front of people who will belong to different age groups. Hence, the class atmosphere will give you a feel of real life atmosphere thus helping you to build your confidence and speak fluent English. This, a class comprising of a diverse group will definitely help in building and developing your confidence.

4) What are the materials I will be provided with during training?
During the training, relevant handouts of the class topics will be given along with the text books.

5) I have just joined college. How will Spoken English course benefit me?
The earlier you learn, the better for you. If you have just joined college it is the best time you join the course. You will have ample time to practice the language before sitting for an interview. As you are a student now, learning the language will increase your confidence to face interviews and will thus increase your employability. Also, you will be able to interact with a lot of people within and outside your college thus increasing friends circle and popularity.

6) I think in Bengali and then try to translate and speak in English. In this process can I speak fluently in English?
Thinking in our mother tongue and then mentally translating and speaking in English is the most common practice and problem. This process leads to fumbling and disturbs the normal English fluency. At Carreograph Spoken English training you will be taught how to handle and overcome this situation.

7) I am a Bengali medium student. What would be the mode of communication in the classes?
We use very simple English in the classes that will be understood by you. We will encourage you to speak and practice in English .You can also speak English once you come out of the fear of speaking. Our trainers may use Bengali sometimes to make you understand the subject but English will be the mode of communication. After all you are getting admitted to a spoken English course to develop your fluency. Be confident, YOU CAN SPEAK ENGLISH.

8) After the 2 months course is over how will I continue with the practice so that my fluency is maintained?
Even after the course gets over you can well maintain your fluency by continuing to speak in English and practicing at home in front of the mirror. Also, you could read newspapers everyday and thus improve your word stock also.

9) I am working in a company and my age is 47 years. I can write English but just can’t speak. Is it possible for me to speak in English within 2 months at this age?
Learning a language doesn’t require any age limit and yes you can very well learn the language at 47 also. At this age when you are already working in a company, learning the language will increase your chances of getting promotion in your field. Speaking without any stumbling block is what is to be aimed at.

10) In the syllabus you have mentioned soft skills. What is meant by that?
Soft skills are the personal qualities that a person has in himself or herself. Soft skills relate to a person’s ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, neighbours, friends, etc., and are broadly applicable both in and outside the workplace. Some areas of soft skill are cooperation, body language, willingness to learn, simple understanding, critical analysis, etc., which help in effectively interacting with people.
